PREFEITURA DO RIO DE JANEIRO . Rio Cidade Leblon . 1994

The Rio Cidade project for Leblon is part of an extensive program that was initiated by the City of Rio de Janeiro in 1994. This urban revitalization project encompasses the neighborhood’s entire commercial main street. The project proposes to recover important traditional city elements, such as prioritizing pedestrians, while also modernizing the neighborhood with new artwork and contemporary street lighting. The main objective of the project is to respect and emphasize the neighborhood’s natural attractions; in the daytime the beach is a major draw, whereas in the evening people come to enjoy its lively nightlife scene.
