An endemic challenge of architecture is innovation. We were invited before the World Cup, to sugest a new arena to replace the Maracanã Stadium, somewhere in the heart of Rio. In line with our ethos of combining environment and architecture, we’ve proposed positioning the arena atop Guanabara Bay. Although it’s called Floating Arena it doesn’t floats really but it gives an idea of an octopus emerging its multiple arms from the water. The location, would have also taken in account, the necessary transport requirements whether by air, land and sea.
